Social Media Appearance Self-Criticism

The beauty concept of society is dynamic and can change due to cultural customs and interactions, including exposure on platforms like social media.

🤳 The rise of social media has made people constantly assess their virtual appearance, leading to self-criticism and higher awareness of perceived flaws.
📋Research indicates that frequent social media usage can foster unrealistic beauty ideals, increase appearance concerns, anxiety, and can worsen body dysmorphic disorder creating comorbidity such as depression and eating disorders.
💉Excessive social media usage can potentially drive people to seek minor cosmetic and plastic surgery procedures, even at younger age.

It's crucial to decrease screen time to reduce exposure to potentially triggering content, and to implement strategies to manage these effects on physical and mental health.
